Mad For Plaid

One of the biggest trends this year is PLAID. You see it everywhere, forever 21, H&M, ZARA..etc...not just in clothing, even in home decor! If you are wondering whether or not you can pull off plaid, the answer is YES! Anyone can look good in plaid! It can be universal definitely not just for Scottish, but we should still leave the kilts for Scottish men shouldn't we? (I'm looking at you, Kanye!)

lol.

I've always been a big fan of plaid, so I am super excited to pick out some of my favorite plaid pieces from Duck & Dressing. I want to show you some of the various ways how you can rock the biggest trend this season :)

Opposites Attract

People always say opposites attract,  I think that also applies to clothes, like this Cameo lace top with Lovers & Friends distressed shorts.  The top is like a girl that loves ballet, and the shorts are like a guy in the rock band. They don't seem to go together at first, but once you put them in the right setting, they might just hit it off and start dating ;)  The right setting = the right accessories, for instance the little black hat and my favorite pair of Bed Stu black lux combat boots harmonize the outfit's feminine look giving it more of a relaxed edgy vibe.  I think styles are a good way to express your emotions, your thoughts, its piece of art work that can be displayed on your body.  So my thought for the day is "opposites attract" everyone should live in harmony :)

Back to Basics

I have always loved the plain white t shirt + blue jean look, timeless and effortless.  This outfit is playing with the basic all American look, instead of your typical white t shirt, I am wearing a white Lovers + Friends crop turtleneck sweater tank.  What I also love about this top it is a great transitional piece to fall, paired with these high rise ripped Res Denim to complete this simple yet stylish look :)

brick walls and a forgotten blog

After some awesome music festivals, a few weddings, a Break up, the Duck Commander Family Cruise, and the Dominican Republic mission trip, now I am back to writing my blog.

Enough with the small talks ha
I was really inspired by this Cameo City light Skirt, it has really cool metal closure detailing + the BCBGeneration chiffon plaid button-up blouse.  What could be better then being able to wear plaid all year long?  With a little tuckage in the front, of course ;) Completed this outfit with my favorite new pair of sandals from Birkenstock. Loving this gladiator style differ from the basic birks :)
One last thing, always stay shady with a pair of cute sunglasses.

Skirt: Cameo
Sandals: Birkenstock
Bag: BCBG
Sunglasses: Wonderland

This whole outfit is available at Duck & Dressing Boutique

Farm life....well kind of.

Ok I know it's been a while. But I have a really good excuse. I might've forgotten my blog password.
That and I've been super busy trying to make this whole online store thing happen. Turns out...not so easy. But it's coming, I promise!!!!

These photos are from a photo shoot we did for the online store. And since here recently I've pretty much been wearing sweatpants and t-shirts, sitting in the back of the store staring at a computer screens, they will have to suffice for photos for the blog too.

Aaaaanyways. About this outfit. Its incredibly important to be able to look chic and then be able to go jump on a four wheeler with your gal pal and your puppy. Very important. It may not have been what I was going for, but it's what happened.

Just wanted to give ya'll a sneak peek of some things that will be on our online store (which is coming very soon). And all these styles are currently available in store at Duck & Dressing.

P.S.
Doesn't Leauxla just look so happy!!!!

Won't Do Me No Good Washing in the River

Living in the South, you would think it would be warm and sunny, and we would all be out and about having fun. And normally you would be right.
But right now its super cold! And I made the brilliant mistake of trying to go outside to get pictures for this blog. Not smart.  Other places are covered in snow, but here we cancel school just because our roads "might" freeze over for the night (Oh no!)  So I thought I would do a look to show how I use my clothes out of my closet to layer and stay warm(ish) when the weather drastically changes down here (which in Louisiana is very common).

One way to stay warm and look cute while doing so would be to pair a casual flannel with a structured jacket. Using a more structured piece as an outer layer keeps your outfit from looking bulky when you are layering. Second would be to always have a pair of tall boots on hand with those fluffy or snowflake thick socks, seriously, the more colorful the better. You know, the ones your grandmother gave you at Christmas that you looked at, rolled your eyes, and thought, "When will I ever wear these?" You can pair these hideous socks with your tall boots and no one will even know you have them on, also you can thank your Grandmother later!

Hi, Welcome to Duck & Dressing

"Hi! Welcome to Duck & Dressing!" Oh wait I don't have to say that here. I say it a hundred times a day at the store, it just flies out sometimes.

Welcome to the Duck & Dressing blog! Its a new year and just wanted to start a new adventure so that maybe I can share some of the fun behind the scenes stuff that goes on around the store and also share some of the styles that we are featuring. We've been working around the clock getting the store running but we've been having some fun too!

We had an amazing Grand Opening/Holiday party back in December and wanted to take the opportunity to thank everyone who came out and supported us. Also we wanted to thank everyone who helped us make such an awesome party happen. Here's some photos from the party. I hope you enjoy them!
